Safford Morenci Trail Midnight Canyon Slot portion 3/20/10

We rode our quad from the Riverview Campground and crossed the Bonita Creek on the Red Knolls Road.  The roads are quite steep and rocky in places (to say the least!) and it took 3+  hrs riding time to get to the point where we could hike to this slot portion of the canyon but so worth it!  We would love to get a big group of us together to do it again - not too smart to do it alone with just one quad!  If something happened you would have to hike 25-30 mi or so to get back.  After reading the adventuresome book by Aron Ralston who cut off his arm with his pocketknife when a chock or boulder trapped him I have been fascinated with slot canyons with chocks and this one has two!
See the little square lower center - that is an indian cliff dwelling granary.
