We just love going to this place on the motorcyle riding up the Coronado trail. It takes about 3 hrs to get there but oh what a ride! This place overlooks a gorgeous meadow (last pix.) and is very serene, quiet and COOL! They said they had 3 ft of snow last Memorial Day! It is the highest elevation in AZ where people live year round. It is kind of like going up on Mt. Graham except you don't bring much and don't cook! The food is pretty good.

We paused on a short hike for a quick pix. Oh, to walk through a forest hearing nothing but birds and quiet.

Don't you want to just step into this picture and start hiking??? There are tons of hiking trails around Hannigan Meadow and lots of places to ride quads and Rhinos. We even bought a map showing all the MTV trails!

Hannigan Meadow - the perfect place to get out of the heat. Too bad it is so far from Phx area. Coronado trail was built in 1924. One person was overheard saying "they should take that road off the map!" I guess she didn't like all the curves. The motorcyclists do though and we saw lots of them today.
