We had never hiked to High Peak before so we didn't know it was so far. We keep turning corners thinking we were almost there but finding another peak ahead. It took many hours but were glad we didn't give up and turn around. We figure it was about 4 miles up (which meant 4 miles back too!)

This shot shows how close the fire came to the scopes. That thing looked huge up close.

This is a view from High peak of Safford I think. Now when we look at the mt. and see the highest peak we can say "we've been there!"

We made it to the top!

Goldie sure scared us by dissappearing for 30 minutes or so. She sure loved exploring so I didn't have the heart to keep her leashed.

Isn't this a pretty part of the trail?

We were glad to get back to the bike! I must have my dads knees 'cause if I hike more than a few miles they sure hurt! What a fun hike it was though - nice and cool. We saw a deer and a rafter of wild turkey.
(Did you know a group of turkey is called a rafter? I didn't until I just looked it up!)

Looks beautiful and I'm sure well worth the hike.
So did you buy a quad and how do you transport it?
