I can't believe I spent a New Year's Eve in Silver City NM but we did and loved it. We stayed at the Econo Lodge there which has an indoor heated pool and jacuzzi which felt good after a long hike that day. Goldie experienced her first hotel stay and did rather well! We have been wanting to go to the Cliff Dwellings 2 hrs N of SC so that was our reason for the trip. We went by way of the Catwalk up mule creek and enjoyed a hike there going further up than we have previously on the Whitewater Trail #207. This 1st pix was actually taken at Roper Lake of Mt. Graham. The next 3 are at the Catwalk. We ventured off on a trail near the end of the catwalk trail and it took us quite high with some scenic views. We love hiking in the winter and find we have much more stamina. All these pix were taken with my cell camera since I forgot my other camera and I thought they turned out decent.
These next 4 pix were taken at the City of Rocks State Park in NM. It was a pretty cool place with camping facilities. You didn't see any rocks for miles and miles then there is this little city of rocks all by their lonesome. The grandkids would love this place!
The pix' below were taken at the Gila Cliff Dwelling. It was such a fun wintery cold hike with snow on the ground up to the dwellings. If you like to see sites where Indians used to live in cliffs this is an awesome place because you go right up inside of them which is a much better experience than the Mesa Verde in CO. We are just so amazed people could live this way.
